Biography

Aaron first joined Iowa Conservatory in the summer of 2024 as a counselor for one of the school’s summer intensives. He returned for the 2024–25 academic year as a residential assistant, supporting students in the boarding program. After completing Cornell College’s Teacher Education Program and earning his initial license to teach grades 5–12 in American and World History, Aaron now joins the ICON faculty as a classroom teacher in those subjects, as well as middle school global studies in addition to his role as residential assistant.

An Iowa City native and proud graduate of West High, Aaron brings deep local knowledge to his work on the student life team—making him a natural at caring for students and helping them find fun, meaningful ways to connect with the community.

His broader experience in education includes substitute teaching throughout the Iowa City Community School District, student teaching at West Liberty Middle School, working as a paraeducator at his alma mater, Iowa City West, and completing practicums at Marion High, Liberty High, and Lisbon Middle School. He also served as a summer counselor at Horn Elementary—his former elementary school—through the Champions program.
