Discover a summer of creativity, collaboration, and skill-building at Iowa Conservatory! ICON’s summer intensives invite students into two immersive, two-week sessions, each crafted to unlock artistic potential through hands-on training. Led by our talented instructors and industry professionals, our program balances high-quality instruction with a focus on personal growth, teamwork, and active engagement.
Beyond the classroom, students experience the vibrant community of Iowa City with fun activities organized by our Student Life Team. These social events bring students together across all programs, sparking friendships and offering a well-rounded summer experience.

Musical Theatre
2 Week Sessions

ICON’s musical theatre intensive workshop offers programming for all levels! Students take part in daily singing, acting, and dance classes to work on foundational and technical work, including professional level skill practice. Within this workshop, ICON includes exceptional masterclasses with special guests artists from Broadway and beyond. Afternoons are spent putting our training to use in rehearsals for a final showcase, which will feature all participants.
Contemporary & Classical Dance
Iowa Conservatory’s Dance Intensive offers two distinct tracks—Classical and Contemporary & Jazz—catering to dancers seeking rigorous training in both traditional and modern dance forms.
2 Week SessionS

The Classical Dance Intensive, designed for dancers in grades 5-12, is ideal for those aspiring to advance in their classical training. This program offers a valuable stepping stone into pre-professional and professional programs nationwide, fostering connections with distinguished faculty and respected industry professionals who guide students toward the next steps in their dance education and careers.

In the Contemporary and Jazz Dance Intensive, dancers gain essential skills for today’s dynamic dance landscape, preparing for diverse settings including video, film, and live performance. Through exploring renowned choreographers’ styles and creating their own works, students build a creative portfolio while refining their technique and improvisation in collaboration with expert faculty.
Visual Arts
2 WEEK SESSIONS

(RISING 7TH- 12TH GRADERS)
For those interested in visual art, this is an opportunity to seriously dive into your passion and spend your days in the studio. Learn techniques and fundamentals in the mornings, and spend your afternoons learning about expression and artistic choices in the medium and subject matter of your choice. At the end of the 2-week session, students will present their work in an art show for family and friends.
