Iowa Conservatory is thrilled to announce our fall play, She Kills Monsters! Qui Nguyen’s funny yet heart-wrenching tale of love, loss, and adventure follows Agnes Evans as she processes her younger sister’s sudden death through her favorite game, Dungeons & Dragons. As Agnes discovers her sister Tilly’s world, she learns so much about Tilly she never knew.

We can’t wait for rehearsals to begin! She Kills Monsters will be a full-school production, with extensive participation from every department. The show will be directed by Theatre Arts Department Chair Lenni Stone, with Design and Production Department Chair Kristen Olinger designing the set — including projections for Tiamat the dragon. Visual Art Department Chair Kyle Sydney Powell will help bring design projects to life through set painting. Students, of course, will be participating in the designs, lighting, and creation of set pieces through ongoing class projects.

Auditions will be held on September 3rd and 4th from 6:00 to 8:30. Registration is required ahead of time. All students must arrive with the proper paperwork prepared (as outlined in the registration form) to audition.

Performances will be held on October 25-27, 2024, at The James Theater.
